Retail Shop Supervisor

About the role

A full-time Retail Shop Supervisor position in Nairobi, Kenya. The supervisor leads the retail team, drives sales and revenue, manages inventory and supports marketing and B2B business development.

Key responsibilities

• Sales and revenue management: achieve individual monthly sales targets, guide and motivate team members, monitor sales trends and implement strategies to maximise in-store and online sales.
• Team leadership: provide leadership to Retail Associates, run monthly performance reviews, onboard and train new employees, resolve staff concerns and hold monthly one-on-one check-ins and development planning.
• Inventory and stock control: oversee receiving and recording of new inventory, supervise monthly stock-taking of products from Kenyan vendors and general merchandise, keep accurate records for in-store and e-commerce platforms, and coordinate restocking with central inventory teams.
• Reporting: prepare monthly reports covering weekly sales summaries, campaign performance, inventory movement, staff progress and proposed improvements; record stock updates from Kenyan authors and vendors.
• Marketing and campaigns: identify local marketing opportunities, plan and run in-store campaigns and seasonal promotions, and gather customer feedback.
• B2B development: build relationships with schools and institutions, track B2B interactions and sales performance.
• Administrative tasks: create content such as quotes for bookmarks and branded material, and follow up on store maintenance and supply restocking.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Sales, Marketing or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in a supervisory or team lead role in retail or a similar environment.
