Risk & Compliance Manager

About the role

The Risk & Compliance Manager will lead the development and maintenance of a comprehensive risk and compliance framework for VisionFund Kenya. This role ensures operational, credit, regulatory, fraud and compliance risks are identified, assessed, mitigated and reported, while fostering a strong risk culture throughout the institution.

Key responsibilities

• Lead operational and credit risk management initiatives across branches and departments.
• Monitor portfolio quality, operational losses, fraud risks and the effectiveness of internal controls.
• Develop and maintain enterprise‑wide risk and compliance frameworks aligned with regulatory and VisionFund International standards.
• Serve as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and coordinate AML/CFT, data protection, digital credit provider and other statutory compliance.
• Prepare risk and compliance reports for senior management, board committees and regulators.
• Coordinate business continuity planning and disaster recovery activities.
• Drive risk awareness, staff training and a compliance culture across the organization.
• Follow up on audit and compliance recommendations to ensure timely closure.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Law or a related field.
• Professional qualifications such as CPA, ACCA, CIA, CISA, CRMA, CAMS are an advantage.
• Minimum five years of experience in risk management, compliance or internal audit within micro‑finance, banking, SACCO or financial services.
• Strong knowledge of operational risk, credit risk, AML/CFT, internal controls and regulatory compliance.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills with high integrity and attention to detail.
