About the role
Save the Children is seeking a Safety & Security Intern to support its operations in Nairobi, Kenya. The intern will work under the guidance of the Operations Coordinator, providing coordination and administrative assistance to ensure the safety of staff, visitors and children.
Key responsibilities
- Liaise with the Admin Team to track visitors and arrange security briefings before travel or within 24 hours of arrival.
- Support the Operations Coordinator in compiling routine security reports and keeping relevant databases up to date.
- Assist in gathering daily security information for monthly reporting and decision‑making.
- Help plan and prepare field‑visit support.
- Update and maintain the security/communication tree and conduct monthly tests.
- Support staff in reporting incidents using the Datix system.
- Assist with staff training, emergency and contingency planning documentation.
- Back‑up the Operations Coordinator during emergency response and ensure procedures are documented and shared.
- Provide feedback to field staff on security‑related inquiries and raise technical questions as needed.
- Inspect workplace environments, equipment and practices for regulatory compliance.
Required profile
- Level 3 child safeguarding clearance (regular contact with children or young people may be required).
Required skills
- Datix incident‑reporting system
