Safety Supervisor - KBL Ruaraka

About the role

AGL (Africa Global Logistics), a multimodal logistics operator (port, logistics, maritime and rail) now part of the MSC Group, is hiring a Safety Supervisor for its KBL Ruaraka site in Nairobi. This is a full-time, fixed-term position focused on supporting the implementation of QHSE management systems and keeping the site safe, secure and environmentally compliant.

Key responsibilities

• Support the implementation of QHSE management systems in line with company, national and client standards
• Carry out regular audits and inspections to reduce non-conforming activities and find improvement opportunities
• Monitor activities to prevent environmental pollution
• Ensure a secure, safe and healthy working environment across the site
• Identify QHSE training needs and help deliver the training
• Hold periodic toolbox talks on safety matters
• Report and investigate incidents and accidents, and ensure statutory and client reporting requirements are met
• Prepare and submit periodic reports to the Regional QHSE Manager
• Establish emergency response procedures and evacuation plans, and make sure staff know them
• Set up and run a Health, Safety and Environment committee in line with group and local regulations
• Make sure personal protective equipment is available, in good condition and sufficient for all employees
• Induct new employees and contractors on site on health, safety and environmental policies
• Conduct and review risk assessments and ensure control measures are implemented

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a science-related field
• NEBOSH IGCE qualification

Required skills

• Working knowledge of management systems such as QMS ISO 9001, EMS ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
