School Nurse (Female)

About the role

Brites Management Services is recruiting a full-time female school nurse based in Karen, Magadi Road, Kenya. The nurse attends to students' health needs in the school clinic, provides nursing care and coordinates with the doctor on duty.

Key responsibilities

• Attend to male and female students presenting with illnesses, injuries or other medical concerns.
• Take medical histories and vital signs, and conduct holistic nursing assessments.
• Provide treatment and nursing care within the scope of professional practice.
• Administer prescribed medications and keep accurate medication records.
• Monitor students' conditions and give follow-up care where needed.
• Provide first aid and respond to medical emergencies.
• Record medical information, vital signs, treatments and medications accurately and confidentially.
• Consult and coordinate with the Doctor on Duty for further assessment, diagnosis, treatment or referral.
• Supervise and guide clinic support staff when required.
• Keep the clinic clean, safe and well organised, ensure medical supplies and equipment are available, and maintain confidentiality of student medical information.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSc Nursing) from a recognised institution.
• At least 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Valid professional registration/licence and practising certificate, where applicable.
• Certificates from recognised professional or healthcare institutions.
• First Aid and/or Basic Life Support certification is an added advantage.
• Female candidates aged 25-38 are encouraged to apply.

Required skills

• Strong clinical assessment and nursing skills.
• Good knowledge of basic treatment and medication administration.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound clinical judgement.
