School Nurse

About the role

The School Nurse will oversee the health and wellbeing of the entire school community at Makini Schools in Westlands, Nairobi. This full‑time role involves developing health plans, providing confidential advice, and supporting students, staff, and families.

Key responsibilities

• Assess health needs of students and staff and develop a comprehensive health plan, including health and safety policies.
• Provide confidential health advice to individual children and refer them to specialists when needed.
• Support vulnerable children by collaborating with teachers and other professionals.
• Advise parents, caregivers, and staff on childhood illnesses and infectious disease control.
• Develop and implement a student health plan and interpret health status for parents and school personnel.
• Utilise existing health resources to deliver appropriate care and maintain cumulative health data.
• Develop emergency nursing procedures for injuries and illnesses.
• Deliver health education, anticipatory guidance, and promote proper hygiene, especially in middle‑school lavatories.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with at least a Diploma in a related discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years experience working in a recognised school.
• At least 3 years experience in a similar nursing position or equivalent.

Required skills

• Proficiency in MS Office suite.
