Sector Head – Telecommunications, Media & Technology (TMT) & Industrials

About the role

The Sector Head will lead the Telecommunications, Media and Technology (TMT) and Industrials portfolio for Absa, driving sustainable economic profit across public sector and infrastructure customers. This senior position combines business development, credit risk management and team leadership to deliver growth and value for both the bank and its clients.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and pursue sales opportunities with new and existing customers, coordinating product specialists to ensure delivery and revenue generation (45% of role).
• Manage credit risk for the corporate customer portfolio, maximize risk‑adjusted profit, and oversee performance against financial targets (45% of role).
• Develop and implement customer relationship plans, collaborate with Corporate Credit Managers, and support AML/KYC compliance.
• Mentor and develop team members, seek feedback, and contribute to the bank’s AML program.

Required profile

• University degree (Bachelors) in Business, Commerce or Management with at least five years of relevant technical or managerial experience.
• Proven experience managing public‑sector clients, corporate and project finance, and understanding of banking lending criteria.
• Strong knowledge of banking operations, macro‑ and micro‑economic environments, and ability to develop business strategies.
