Senior Accountant

About the role

Matter Family Office is seeking a Senior Accountant to serve as the primary financial liaison for a portfolio of client families. You will work closely with internal teams, external vendors, and professional advisors to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the day‑to‑day point of contact for assigned client families, handling routine inquiries and email distribution lists.
• Review and validate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, net worth) and bookkeeping prepared by Staff Accountants.
• Execute accounts payable and payroll processes, confirming accuracy and timeliness.
• Perform budget‑vs‑actual analysis, contribute to budgeting and forecasting for assigned clients.
• Participate in monthly peer‑review and internal‑audit activities across client entities.
• Coordinate with third‑party vendors, banks, accountants, attorneys, and financial advisors.
• Escalate complex or sensitive matters to the Accounting Manager with recommended solutions.
• Mentor Staff Accountants, providing guidance and supporting their professional development.
• Assist in preparing client meeting materials and follow‑up reports.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot and correct errors before publication.
• Excellent communication skills for client interaction and cross‑functional collaboration.
