Senior Associate II – Litigation & Dispute Resolution

About the role

The leading law firm in Nairobi is seeking a Senior Associate II to lead complex litigation and dispute resolution matters. The role involves providing strategic legal advice, representing clients in courts and tribunals, and driving business development initiatives. You will work closely with partners and senior associates to deliver high‑quality outcomes for a diverse client base.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and advise on complex litigation and ADR matters, ensuring timely and high‑quality delivery.
• Support partners and principal associates in handling client matters, exercising independent judgment.
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships, providing practical legal solutions.
• Lead, mentor and supervise junior associates, pupils and other team members.
• Represent clients before courts, tribunals, arbitral panels and other forums.
• Identify new business opportunities, support client pitches and contribute to revenue targets.
• Oversee matter budgets, monitor time, costs, billing and accounts receivable.
• Ensure compliance with firm policies, professional standards and risk‑management procedures.

Required profile

• LLB degree from a recognized university and admission as an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
• Minimum of 5 years post‑qualification experience in a reputable law firm or in‑house legal department.
• Proven ability to independently manage complex legal matters.
• Demonstrated leadership and supervision experience.
• Excellent communication, legal drafting and advocacy skills.
• Strong client relationship‑management capabilities.
