Senior Associate – Sustainable Finance

About the role

Systemiq is seeking a Senior Associate to strengthen its Sustainable Finance practice, focusing on public and development finance. You will work with governments, development banks and donors to design and mobilise capital for climate, nature and development outcomes.

Key responsibilities

• Lead workstreams that provide advisory support on sovereign financing strategies, including debt sustainability and credit dynamics.
• Develop client‑ready analysis, strategy decks, technical notes and briefing packs.
• Design and assess financing instruments such as concessional and blended finance, sustainability‑linked bonds/loans and debt‑for‑climate/nature swaps.
• Manage stakeholder engagement across ministries, central banks, IFIs/DFIs and private‑sector partners, facilitating workshops and convenings.
• Contribute to proposal development, thought leadership and knowledge building within the Sustainable Finance team.

Required profile

• Master’s degree or equivalent in economics, finance, international development, public policy or a related field.
• 4+ years of experience in strategy consulting, international financial institutions, sovereign finance or development finance advisory.
• Strong understanding of macro‑economic context, sovereign risk, debt sustainability and credit dynamics.
• Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Proven ability to engage senior stakeholders in government‑facing or multi‑stakeholder environments.

Required skills

• Familiarity with concessional and blended finance instruments.
• Experience with sustainability‑linked bonds/loans and debt‑for‑climate or nature swaps.
