Senior Barista

About the role

Java House Africa Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Barista to lead the coffee counter at its Westlands outlet. You will ensure high‑quality beverage preparation, maintain service standards, and mentor junior staff while delivering an excellent customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee all branch operations with a focus on the barista counter.
• Coordinate production and service of quality coffee, tea, specialty drinks and fresh bakery items.
• Train and assess trainee baristas, promoting coffee excellence and consistency.
• Monitor equipment performance, advise on replacements, and control food/beverage costs.
• Prepare and serve hot and cold beverages, handle customer interactions, and follow SOPs.
• Maintain a clean, organized counter, conduct daily stock‑takes, and manage inventory.
• Control waste, ensure sufficient change, and manage shift float money.
• Perform end‑of‑shift cash reconciliation and close counter variances.
• Assist with any additional tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Required profile

• Ability to make quick decisions under pressure and solve problems.
• Highly responsible, reliable and able to work cohesively in a team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• In‑house training in barista techniques and customer care.
