About the role

Visa is seeking a Senior Business Development Manager to lead its growth initiatives in Kenya. The role will focus on expanding Visa’s presence across banks, fintechs, merchants and ecosystem partners, driving value‑based selling and increasing wallet share.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and execute defined market segments and accounts, focusing on Tier 1 banks, fintechs and high‑value merchants.
  • Develop and manage a consultative sales pipeline to achieve revenue and client‑retention targets.
  • Support strategic initiatives across issuing, acquiring and acceptance functions.
  • Provide leadership and continuity for the Kenya team, improving coverage of high‑value opportunities.
  • Prioritise market initiatives, reduce execution bottlenecks and manage escalation risks.
  • Own account relationships and program ownership, ensuring clear accountability.
  • Coach and mentor team members to enhance performance and resilience.

Required profile

  • 10 + years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree (or 8 + years with an advanced degree, or 3 + years with a PhD).
  • Fluent written and spoken Portuguese.
  • Minimum 6 years experience in banking, financial services, payments, mobile networks or fintech.
  • Demonstrated card‑payment experience and deep knowledge of Visa and other payment systems.
  • Ability to engage senior‑level international bankers and present complex solutions.
  • Strong commercial orientation and sensitivity to multicultural environments.
