Senior Civil Engineer – Infrastructure

About the role

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Senior Civil Engineer to lead the design and delivery of large‑scale urban infrastructure. The role demands deep analytical and design expertise in city‑scale systems such as roads, utilities, and advanced stormwater management.

Key responsibilities

• Lead conceptual, preliminary and detailed design of civil infrastructure for large‑scale urban developments, covering road networks, potable water distribution and wastewater collection.
• Conduct and oversee hydrological and hydraulic modelling for stormwater management, including flood‑line analysis and Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems (SuDS) design.
• Provide technical oversight during construction, ensuring compliance with design specifications, quality standards and safety regulations; perform regular site inspections and resolve technical issues.
• Coordinate closely with urban designers and landscape architects to integrate infrastructure with the masterplan and public realm vision, participating in integrated design workshops.
• Liaise with government agencies, regulatory bodies, utility providers and other stakeholders to secure approvals and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaborative problem‑solving.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field (mandatory).
• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience designing and supervising civil infrastructure for large‑scale developments.
• Proven expertise in road, water and sewer network design, stormwater management and flood risk assessment.
• Strong knowledge of international design standards (e.g., AASHTO) and local regulations.
• Experience collaborating with urban designers and landscape architects on multidisciplinary projects; experience in Kenya or East Africa is a plus.
