Senior Data Engineer

About the role

Turaco is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design, build and optimise the data infrastructure that powers its subscription‑based insurance platform. You will work on high‑volume financial transaction data, ensuring speed, accuracy and compliance with FinTech security standards.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and own scalable batch and real‑time data pipelines supporting high‑volume financial transactions.
• Design resilient data infrastructure using modern streaming and processing technologies such as Kafka and Spark.
• Build, optimise and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines that integrate core banking systems, internal platforms and third‑party APIs.
• Automate manual workflows and re‑engineer data processes to improve platform scalability.
• Ensure data quality, reliability and accuracy while safeguarding sensitive financial information.
• Provide technical leadership, setting standards for data security and performance across the engineering team.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior‑level data engineer, preferably in a FinTech or insurance environment.
• Demonstrated ability to design and operate large‑scale data pipelines and to lead technical decisions.
• Strong understanding of data security and compliance requirements for financial data.
