Senior Grants Advisor – International Development

About the role

GIZ Kenya is seeking a Senior Grants Advisor to support the “Strengthening Good Governance in Sudan” programme, focusing on peace and social cohesion initiatives. The role will involve close collaboration with Sudanese civil society organisations, regional partners and GIZ teams to ensure effective grant implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and manage strategic partnerships to enhance coordination and synergies.
• Liaise with Sudanese CSOs and relevant stakeholders in Kenya and the region.
• Provide contextual updates on civic, governance and peacebuilding processes, identifying opportunities and risks.
• Advise CSOs on project design and implementation within the Qudra Fund and other funding streams.
• Offer technical back‑stopping and support to partners financed through the Qudra Fund.
• Support the preparation and launch of additional Calls for Proposals for Sudanese CSOs.
• Document programme and partner implementation to contribute to learning and knowledge exchange.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in a relevant field.
• Business‑fluent English and Arabic (minimum C1 CEFR).
• At least 8 years of professional experience in grant management, civil society engagement or international development.
• Proven ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and operate in fragile, conflict‑affected contexts.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, especially real‑time collaboration and messaging.
• Experience using project management tools and software.
• Familiarity with Call for Proposals processes and digital grant management platforms.
