Senior HR Officer – Hospitality

About the role

The Senior HR Officer will lead the human resources function for a hospitality client, overseeing employee relations, disciplinary processes, recruitment and attendance management. This on‑site role requires a hands‑on, people‑focused professional who can work effectively with both skilled and unskilled staff in a fast‑paced environment.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a visible HR presence on the ground, engaging employees and supervisors to identify and resolve people‑related issues early.
• Handle employee relations matters, including grievances, conflict resolution, disciplinary cases and workplace conduct, ensuring fairness, confidentiality and compliance with Kenyan law.
• Monitor attendance, punctuality, absenteeism and leave, working with supervisors to address recurring issues.
• Support line managers in performance management, setting expectations, addressing poor performance and documenting actions.
• Implement and communicate HR policies and workplace rules in a practical manner for all staff.
• Manage end‑to‑end recruitment, from sourcing and screening to onboarding and placement.
• Develop and coordinate induction, orientation and training programmes for new hires.
• Prepare regular HR reports on attendance, turnover, disciplinary cases, recruitment and other workforce trends.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Psychology or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years progressive HR experience, preferably in the hospitality sector with a sizeable skilled and unskilled workforce.
• Strong communication, emotional intelligence and conflict‑resolution abilities.
• Good knowledge of Kenyan employment legislation and HR best practices; professional HR certification is a plus.
