Senior HR Operations & Compliance Officer (Floriculture)

About the role

A leading floriculture company, represented by its recruiter Stratostaff East Africa, is looking for a Senior HR Operations & Compliance Officer in Ruiru. The role oversees and ensures the effective delivery of all HR functions, with ultimate accountability for HR services and strong stakeholder communication.

Key responsibilities

• HR administration and employee lifecycle: recruitment, onboarding, exits, employee files, and employment contracts
• Payroll, time and attendance, leave management, and employee benefits
• Compliance with Kenyan labour laws and statutes (NSSF, NHIF, PAYE, NITA), statutory licenses, and ESG compliance; audit coordination and work permits
• Employee relations, grievance and disciplinary cases, union-management meetings, and welfare committee support
• PPE, accident and occupational health records, workman compensation, and insurance claims
• Performance appraisals, KPI reporting, training needs, and PIPs
• HRIS maintenance, HR reporting, HR board papers, and the Employee Handbook
• Annual HR budget, third-party service providers, and process improvement

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration or a related field
• CHRP certification or equivalent HR professional certification
• Minimum 6-8 years of progressive HR experience
• Experience in floriculture, manufacturing, FMCG, agriculture, horticulture or food production is highly desirable
• Strong working knowledge of Kenyan labour laws and statutory compliance
• Experience with employee relations, grievances and unions

Required skills

• Hands-on HRIS experience
• MS Office, particularly Excel for data management and reporting
• Payroll coordination and employee benefits administration
• Accurate record keeping and analytical reporting
