Senior Investment Associate – Project Finance

About the role

PowerGen Renewable Energy is looking for a Senior Investment Associate to join its Investments team in Nairobi. The role will lead the origination, structuring and fundraising of power projects across African markets, driving scalable and bankable investments.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and evaluate new project and platform investment opportunities in target markets.
• Lead commercial and financial structuring of transactions, including equity, mezzanine and debt instruments.
• Develop and maintain complex project‑finance and corporate financial models, perform scenario and sensitivity analysis, and prepare valuation reports (DCF, comparable transactions).
• Drive debt and equity fundraising with DFIs, commercial banks, funds and strategic partners, managing due‑diligence and negotiations.
• Coordinate legal and commercial structuring, and manage relationships with lenders, investors, governments and donors.
• Oversee projects through internal Investment Committee gates and support implementation and asset‑management teams.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in project finance or investment banking.
• Strong background in African energy or infrastructure sectors.
• Proven ability to lead deals end‑to‑end and work with senior stakeholders.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
