Senior Lawyer – Civil Litigation

About the role

ASIC is seeking an experienced Senior Lawyer to join its Civil Litigation Team within Enforcement Legal Services. The role involves handling complex, high‑profile regulatory litigation that protects Australian consumers and maintains confidence in the financial system.

Key responsibilities

• Work in teams led by Litigation Counsel to conduct ASIC’s regulatory civil litigation in the High Court, Federal Court and State Supreme Courts.
• Provide strategic leadership and advice on matters where external law firms are engaged.
• Offer expert legal advice to investigation teams and contribute to case theory development.
• Mentor junior lawyers and help build ASIC’s knowledge base.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer with a minimum of six years post‑admission experience in complex civil litigation.
• Strong understanding of civil procedure, rules of evidence, corporate governance, financial services regulation and consumer protection.
• Proven ability to develop case strategies, draft court documents and instruct counsel.
• Excellent communication, mentoring and knowledge‑management skills.
