Senior Program Officer – Higher Education Inclusion

About the role

The World University Service of Canada (WUSC) is seeking a Senior Program Officer to lead higher‑education inclusion initiatives for displaced youth across Africa. Based in Nairobi, you will work closely with partners, refugee‑led organisations and internal teams to expand access to university and vocational training.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and implement outreach activities (both in‑person and virtual) for refugee‑displaced populations across Africa.
• Collaborate with the Senior Events Officer on logistics, administration and communications for events.
• Provide programmatic oversight and nurture relationships with universities, NGOs, and community organisations.
• Support the Partnerships Manager and the RLO University Now Team in partnership development and capacity‑strengthening initiatives.
• Produce high‑quality reports, learning materials and correspondence in English and French.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Public Policy, Education, Social Sciences or a related field.
• Three to five years of professional experience working on displacement, refugee, youth development or education programmes in Africa.
• Lived experience of displacement or forced migration is an asset.
• Demonstrated commitment to gender equality, diversity, equity and social inclusion.
• Strong planning, organisational and problem‑solving abilities in a fast‑paced environment.
