Senior Registrar Radiology and Imaging

About the role

Mater Misericordiae Hospital, a leading health care provider in East and Central Africa, is recruiting a Senior Registrar in Radiology and Imaging. The successful candidate will interpret and report imaging studies and work alongside radiographers, sonographers and other health professionals in delivering patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and report imaging studies including conventional radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, mammography and cross-sectional imaging (MRI and CT); basic image-guided interventional procedures are an added advantage.
• Work with radiographers, sonographers and other health professionals in administering treatment.
• Handle emergency cases properly when on duty and maintain high standards of diagnostic accuracy and patient care.
• Ensure legal obligations for radiation protection are met in liaison with the Head of Department and other radiologists.
• Screen all patients using best practices in radiation protection.
• Take part in clinical audits, review programs, multidisciplinary tumor boards, morbidity and mortality meetings and family conferences.
• Provide expert radiological advice to hospital clinical teams and attend teleconsultations and ad hoc consultations.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure consistency with procedure protocols and patient conditions.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBChB).
• Masters of Medicine in Radiology.
• Valid practicing license and indemnity.

Required skills

• Computer proficiency.
• Ability to use the Radiology Information System (RIS) and PACS.
