Senior Test Automation Engineer

About the role

Vyntra is looking for a Senior Test Automation Engineer to own quality across its AI‑powered fraud detection and transaction observability platform. Based in Nairobi, you will work in a hybrid model, collaborating with an international engineering team to embed testing into the development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain automated tests for web, API and integration layers.
• Own and evolve automation frameworks to improve coverage, reliability and maintainability.
• Write clean, maintainable Java automation code using Playwright or Selenium.
• Develop automated API and integration tests for complex backend and transactional systems.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
• Investigate complex defects, analyse data and work with developers on root‑cause resolution.
• Collaborate closely with developers and product managers throughout the development lifecycle.

Required profile

• 5+ years of commercial QA/Test Engineering experience with a strong focus on automation.
• Clear, confident communication and proven experience working with distributed, international teams.
• Hands‑on experience building or significantly evolving automation frameworks, not just adding tests.
• Ability to take ownership of work and contribute confidently in an Agile environment.

Required skills

• Java (test automation)
• Playwright and/or Selenium
• RestAssured or similar API testing tools
• JUnit or TestNG
• CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI
• Docker / containerised environments
• SQL and database validation
• Experience with Kafka, MQ, Elastic, JMeter, k6, Kubernetes, Helm, Linux (nice to have)
