Senior Wildlife Conservation Advisor – Nairobi

About the role

ProSidian Consulting seeks a senior professional to lead wildlife conservation initiatives across East Africa, focusing on public lands, national parks and endangered‑species protection. The advisor will work closely with U.S. government agencies, host‑country officials and NGOs to implement the U.S. Strategy to Combat Wildlife Trafficking and related policies.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership for U.S. wildlife trafficking (CWT) initiatives, coordinating with U.S. agencies, regional governments and NGOs.
• Oversee a portfolio of U.S. government‑funded conservation projects, tracking implementation, monitoring impact and reporting to senior stakeholders.
• Serve as the principal liaison for conservation activities, preparing briefing materials for ambassadors and arranging official U.S. visits.
• Coordinate inter‑agency efforts among USAID, State, Interior, Justice, Commerce and Homeland Security, and co‑chair the Kenya U.S. Embassy CWT working group.
• Mentor junior staff, fostering project‑management skills and technical expertise.

Required profile

• Demonstrated leadership in wildlife trafficking prevention and biodiversity policy, preferably with recent experience in a comparable role.
• Excellent organizational, interpersonal and independent work abilities; self‑starter with flexibility to seek direction when needed.
• Strong communication skills for written and oral briefings to diverse audiences, including high‑level government officials.
