Service Electrician – Petroleum Industry

About the role

SPATCO is seeking an energetic Service Electrician to install, test and maintain electrical equipment in the petroleum industry. The role involves reading blueprints, troubleshooting systems and ensuring compliance with safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic equipment and fixtures used in the petroleum industry.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning systems or components using appropriate testing equipment.
• Install conduits, pull wire and make final connections to circuit breakers.
• Inspect electrical systems and components to verify compliance with safety requirements, codes and specifications.
• Advise management, customers and coworkers when hazards are present and when systems are safe to operate.
• Assist estimators with material take‑off, material cost and labor allowances.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Seven years of electrician experience, including at least five years in commercial work.
• At least one year of Journeyman Electrician experience.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass background and drug screening.
• Ability to lift 75‑100 lb and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Willingness to work overtime and be on call as needed.
• Strong communication skills and detail‑oriented work habits.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Use of hand and power tools such as conduit benders.
• Operation of ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners, cable testers, ohm meters and meggers.
• Knowledge of electrical standards and codes.
• Installation of conduits, wiring and final circuit connections.
• Electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic techniques.
