Service Electrician – Petroleum Industry

About the role

SPATCO is seeking an energetic Service Electrician to support electrical systems in the petroleum industry. The successful candidate will read blueprints, install and maintain wiring, and ensure all equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical and electronic equipment and fixtures using hand and power tools.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning systems with ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners and cable testers.
• Install conduits, pull wire, and make final connections to circuit breakers.
• Inspect electrical systems for compliance with safety codes, project specifications and manufacturer requirements.
• Advise management, customers and coworkers about hazards and safe operation.
• Assist estimators with material take‑off, cost calculations and labor allowances.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 7 years of electrician experience, including at least 5 years in commercial work.
• At least 1 year of Journeyman Electrician experience.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass background and drug screening.
• Willingness to work overtime, be on call, lift 75‑100 lb, and work outdoors in all weather.
• Strong communication skills and detail‑oriented work habits.

Required skills

• Reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, including conduit benders.
• Use of ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners, cable testers, ohm meters, megger and other testing equipment.
• Installation of conduits, wire pulling and final circuit connections.
• Knowledge of electrician standards, codes and safety regulations.
