Service Electrician – Petroleum Industry

About the role

SPATCO is looking for an energetic Electrician to join our team. The successful candidate will be able to read blueprints and electrical system diagrams that show the location of circuits, outlets, and other equipment.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble, install, test and maintain electrical or electronic equipment and fixtures used in the petroleum industry using hand and power tools.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctioning systems or components using ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners and cable testers.
• Install conduits, pull wire and make final connections to circuit breakers.
• Inspect electrical systems and components to verify compliance with safety requirements, codes, project specifications and manufacturer requirements.
• Advise management, customers and fellow workers when hazards are present and when systems are safe to operate.
• Assist estimators with material take‑off, material cost and labor allowances.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 7 years electrician experience, including at least 5 years in commercial work.
• Clean driving record and ability to pass background and drug screening.
• At least 1 year of Journeyman Electrician experience.
• Knowledge of electrician standards and codes.
• Ability to work overtime, be on call, lift 75‑100 lb and work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Strong communication skills, detail‑oriented and able to work under time constraints with a team.

Required skills

• Reading blueprints and electrical schematics.
• Use of hand tools, power tools and conduit benders.
• Operation of ammeters, voltmeters, thermal scanners, cable testers, ohm meters, amp probes and meggers.
• Installation of conduits and wiring, and final circuit‑breaker connections.
• Compliance with electrical safety codes and standards.
