Site Agent – Construction Project Management

About the role

We are looking for a Site Agent to take full‑time charge of a building contract in Nairobi. The Site Agent acts as the named representative on site, supervising the works and reporting to the Project Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Run the site day‑to‑day against the programme, planning each week’s work with the general foreman and subcontractors.
• Supervise the general foreman, trade gangs, domestic subcontractors and casual labour.
• Receive and act on the Engineer’s instructions on site and ensure every instruction is recorded.
• Control materials with the stores clerk: check deliveries against orders, store securely and issue against records.
• Enforce safety with the Safety Officer, including PPE, safe access, edge protection, excavations and lifting.
• Inspect work as it progresses and correct poor workmanship before it becomes rework.
• Maintain an accurate site diary and daily returns, escalating clashes, shortages and delays to the Project Manager promptly.

Required profile

• Lead from the front, speak plainly and stop tradesmen from cutting corners.
• Communicate programme discrepancies to the Project Manager when on‑site reality differs from the plan.
• Organised enough to sequence a busy site and firm enough to enforce discipline.
• Careful with materials and labour, recognising that both represent cost.

Required skills

• Degree or Higher National Diploma in Construction Management, Building Technology, Civil Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum three years’ experience running building sites as a Site Agent, Site Manager or Site Supervisor.
• Ability to read, set out from and build to architectural and structural drawings.
• Proven record of labour management, material control and daily site reporting.
• Confident spoken and written English for direct communication with the Engineer.
• NCA registration as a site supervisor (advantageous).
