Skipper / Boat Captain for Aquaculture Fleet

About the role

We are seeking an experienced, safety‑focused Skipper/Boat Captain to operate and manage vessels (8–14 m) for our expanding aquaculture fleet in East Africa. The role involves day and night operations, crew supervision, and strict adherence to marine safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and navigate MAKO, WAHOO and other fleet vessels safely during day and night missions.
• Conduct pre‑departure inspections, vessel readiness checks, and ensure compliance with maritime regulations and SOPs.
• Supervise crew and passengers, deliver safety briefings, and maintain a safe onboard environment.
• Maintain accurate logs of voyages, incidents, fuel consumption and maintenance activities.
• Execute docking, anchoring and vessel handling at piers and moorings.
• Respond to emergencies, mechanical failures and adverse weather, reporting all incidents promptly.
• Provide technical requirements for equipment, spares and repairs, and oversee relief skipper training.
• Coordinate with operations for fleet scheduling, logistics and vessel availability.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Skipper, Boat Captain or Master on commercial/work boats (8–14 m).
• Valid commercial boat operating licence / skipper or master licence for the vessel type and area.
• Current STCW or equivalent marine safety certification.
• Experience in aquaculture, fish‑farm or similar marine operations is highly preferred.
