Social Media Marketing Intern

About the role

This internship supports the social enterprise’s communication efforts across Kenya, focusing on creating and sharing content that highlights farmer impact, e‑mobility services, and organisational milestones. You will work from the Kisii Smart Community Headquarters and travel occasionally to field hubs to gather visual material.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, design and schedule posts for Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn and TikTok.
• Collect photos, videos and testimonials from farmers and hub teams for use in social media content.
• Monitor comments, messages and mentions, responding or escalating queries to maintain an active online presence.
• Track engagement metrics such as reach, likes, shares and follower growth, and prepare simple monthly reports.
• Create basic graphics and short‑form videos using Canva (and optionally CapCut) for posts, campaigns and newsletters.
• Assist in planning and executing social media campaigns and challenges, e.g., the Kilikawi Challenge.
• Support broader marketing activities for the Data & Innovations team, including promotional materials and partner communications.

Required profile

• Recently completed a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Digital Media or a related field.
• Strong interest in rural development, agriculture or mobility solutions.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Canva (and optionally CapCut) for graphic and video creation.
• Comfortable using a smartphone for photography and videography.
• Familiarity with social media scheduling tools such as Meta Business Suite or Buffer.
• Basic understanding of social media analytics and engagement metrics.
• Experience creating Reels, Stories and short‑form video content.
