Software Engineer II

About the role

Microsoft’s identity platform team is looking for a Software Engineer II to help build and operate the core notification services that power secure, real‑time communication across Entra. You will work on highly‑scaled, globally distributed systems that deliver millions of authentication, security and lifecycle notifications through channels such as email and Teams.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement backend services that enable reliable, high‑scale delivery of identity notifications across multiple channels.
• Own end‑to‑end feature development from design through implementation, testing and validation while meeting enterprise‑grade SLAs.
• Participate in monitoring, incident response and post‑incident analysis to maintain high availability and accurate delivery.
• Collaborate with partner teams across Entra to onboard them to the notification platform and simplify their communication workflows.
• Contribute to platform modernization initiatives, including new communication channels, AI‑driven signal processing and cross‑cloud support.

Required profile

• Strong background in building backend services for large‑scale, globally distributed systems.
• Experience delivering production‑ready features with a focus on reliability and performance.
• Proven ability to work on monitoring, incident response and continuous improvement of live services.
• Effective collaboration skills to work with diverse engineering groups and partner teams.
