Solar Sales Engineer Trainee (On-site, Nairobi)

About the role

Solarshop Africa is looking for motivated Solar Sales Engineer Trainees to support its sales and technical teams in Nairobi. This full‑time, on‑site position offers hands‑on experience in designing basic solar solutions, preparing quotations, and communicating product features to customers.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in designing simple solar systems and preparing accurate quotations.
• Explain product features, system configurations, and technical details to prospective customers.
• Provide front‑line technical support, respond to inquiries, and help resolve product‑selection or performance issues.
• Participate in sales meetings, conduct supervised site visits, and maintain detailed records of customer interactions and sales activities.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and sales staff to learn industry standards and improve product knowledge.

Required profile

• Strong sales and customer‑service abilities to engage prospects and build relationships.
• Clear communication skills for explaining technical information and preparing documentation.
• Basic understanding of solar energy systems and electrical concepts (beneficial).
• Diploma or degree in engineering, renewable energy, physics, or a related field (advantageous).
• Ability to learn quickly, follow technical guidelines, and thrive in a fast‑paced, on‑site environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., MS Office).
• Experience using CRM or sales tracking tools.
• Basic knowledge of solar energy system design and electrical principles.
