Solution Architect (1-Year Fixed Term Contract)

About the role

A leading financial services institution operating across East Africa, which provides banking and digital financial solutions to retail, corporate, SME and institutional customers, is hiring a Solution Architect on a 1-year fixed-term contract. The role develops solution designs, technical specifications and architectural reviews that turn business requirements into scalable, secure and sustainable technology solutions aligned with enterprise architecture standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop solution architectures, technical designs and implementation strategies, and translate business requirements into conceptual, logical and physical designs
• Provide recommendations on technology approaches and solution options, and maintain architecture artifacts, standards and repositories
• Gather requirements through stakeholder engagement, workshops, process analysis, use cases and business modelling
• Evaluate emerging technologies through Proof of Concept initiatives and identify opportunities to modernize business processes
• Provide architectural oversight across projects, manage technical debt and work with project and technology teams
• Support performance improvement, guide QA teams in performance and non-functional testing, and lead capacity planning

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related field
• Minimum of seven years of progressive IT experience
• Minimum of five years spanning at least two IT disciplines such as solution/application architecture, application development, middleware or microservices development
• Experience designing enterprise solutions in complex environments and supporting large-scale transformation and modernization initiatives

• Strong understanding of enterprise architecture, systems integration, application development, cloud technologies, APIs and solution design methodologies
• Stakeholder management, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
