Supervisory Staff Accountant

About the role

The Financial Improvement Audit Readiness (FIAR) Division of NAVFAC OSF is seeking a Supervisory Staff Accountant to lead a team of federal employees and contractors. This senior accounting position provides both technical and administrative oversight while supporting the Command's senior accounting expert.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise up to seven General Schedule employees and a team of up to twelve contractors.
• Provide technical and administrative oversight for first‑level supervision.
• Support process development that impacts fiduciary reporting and fiscal accountability.
• Analyze fiduciary reports and regularly brief Financial Management Officers and the Comptroller on progress and issues.
• Serve as senior accountant across multiple operating accounting systems and related programs.
• Offer expert advice and resolve major problems to meet internal and external customer expectations.

Required profile

• At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑14 grade level in the Federal service or comparable private/public sector experience.
• Demonstrated ability to apply financial administration laws, regulations, and accounting principles.
• Comprehensive knowledge of financial management theories, governmental policies, and daily operations.
• Experience executing precise financial and accountability processes.
• Proven skill in reviewing and auditing administrative and accounting workflows.
• Degree in accounting or a related field with 24 semester hours in accounting (or equivalent education/experience combination).
