Supply Chain Management Officer

About the role

The Jeremiah Nyagah National Polytechnic is seeking a qualified Supply Chain Management Officer to lead procurement, inventory, and stores operations. The role ensures compliance with public procurement laws and supports the institution’s mission by delivering value‑for‑money goods and services.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate and execute procurement of goods, works and services.
• Prepare tender documents, manage supplier selection, contracts and performance monitoring.
• Process purchase orders, track deliveries and maintain accurate procurement records.
• Oversee inventory, stores operations, inspection and acceptance of supplies.
• Support disposal of obsolete assets and conduct periodic stock‑taking and asset verification.
• Provide procurement data for budget preparation and advise management on best practices.
• Supervise and mentor junior procurement and stores staff where applicable.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Commerce, Business Administration or equivalent.
• Membership and valid practising certificate with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM).
• At least three years of relevant procurement and supply‑chain experience.
• Knowledge of the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Act (2015) and Public Finance Management Act (2012).
• Strong analytical, communication and organizational abilities with high integrity.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience using IFMIS/e‑procurement systems.
