Systems Librarian

About the role

The Systems Librarian manages Daystar University’s digital library infrastructure, ensuring reliable, seamless, and secure access to electronic resources for students, faculty, and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Administer, configure and troubleshoot Integrated Library Systems, repository platforms and discovery layers.
• Coordinate with the ICT Department on network, server and database integrations, upgrades and security.
• Develop and maintain system documentation, procedures and user guides.
• Monitor system usage, generate performance reports and support data‑privacy and licensing compliance.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in library or information science.
• Professional training in IT/ICT (degree, diploma or recognised certification).
• At least 5 years’ experience administering library systems, including ILS and authentication services.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.

Required skills

• Knowledge of library metadata standards (MARC 21, Dublin Core) and interoperability protocols (OAI‑PMH, Z39.50).
• Practical scripting/programming skills (Python, SQL, XML) and experience with APIs.
• Experience with system integration, hardware/software operations and change‑management initiatives.
