Tax Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Tax Accountant to ensure full compliance with Kenyan tax laws while supporting commercial operations through effective tax planning, reporting and risk management. The role reports to the Head of Finance and will oversee VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, withholding taxes, statutory deductions, audits and tax accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all tax compliance obligations, including preparation and timely filing of VAT, PAYE, Corporate Income Tax, Withholding Taxes and other regulatory returns.
• Prepare tax reconciliations, provisions and supporting schedules; maintain accurate tax records for monthly and annual financial reporting.
• Review business transactions to ensure correct tax treatment and provide guidance on tax implications for procurement, inventory, sales and capital investments.
• Coordinate KRA audits, reviews and assessments, ensuring timely preparation of schedules, documentation and responses.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation, identify tax risks, recommend corrective actions and strengthen internal controls.
• Support accounts payable and receivable functions and partner with management to implement efficient, compliant business processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics or related field.
• At least four years of hands‑on tax accounting, advisory or statutory compliance experience.
• Strong knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and regulations; CPA(K) qualification is an advantage.
• Experience with KRA audits and tax reconciliations; Big 4 audit experience is a plus.
• Experience in agribusiness, manufacturing, FMCG or processing is beneficial.
