Teacher of Career Guidance and SET

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Teacher of Career Guidance and Special Educational Needs (SET) to join Coláiste Aindriú on a fixed‑term basis. The role involves delivering 11 hours per week of career guidance and 11 hours per week of SET, supporting students in their personal and academic development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and assess career guidance lessons aligned with the national curriculum.
• Provide SET instruction, adapting resources to meet individual learning needs.
• Collaborate with colleagues, parents and external agencies to create inclusive learning pathways.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and produce regular reports.
• Stay updated with changes in syllabus, policy and best practice in career guidance and special education.

Required profile

• Registered with the Teaching Council of Ireland (essential).
• Relevant teaching qualification; a postgraduate qualification in Special Education Needs or Learning Support is advantageous.
• Demonstrated professional knowledge of career guidance and special education pedagogy.
• Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with students, staff and community partners.
• Self‑awareness and strong self‑management skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Irish secondary education curriculum and career guidance frameworks.
• Understanding of special educational needs assessment and intervention strategies.
