Team Leader & Agricultural Value Chain Expert

About the role

Sustainet Group Limited is seeking a seasoned professional to lead agricultural value‑chain projects in Nairobi. The role combines technical expertise in sustainable agriculture with strong project‑management and stakeholder‑engagement skills.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in kick‑off meetings with ABF and MGF partners to define project scope.
• Oversee the quality and timeliness of advisory packages delivered by the contractor.
• Coordinate communication with GIZ, partners, and other project stakeholders, ensuring rigorous quality assurance for reports and coaching plans.
• Manage personnel, identify short‑term assignment needs, and supervise local and international experts.
• Prepare regular progress reports in line with agreed deadlines.
• Optionally act as a key expert to train and coach up to three MGF partners.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in political science, social science, law, agriculture, rural development, agricultural economics, development studies or a related field.
• Minimum five years of professional experience in sustainable agriculture, agricultural supply chains, or sustainable food systems.
• At least three years of leadership or management experience as a project team leader or manager.
• Three years of experience working on projects in at least two of the following regions: Latin America, Africa, Asia.
• Five years of experience in development cooperation projects and three years of direct engagement with smallholders or agricultural MSMEs.
