Technical Author (multiple roles & seniority levels)

About the role

This position is for a Technical Author who will help define and elevate technical documentation as a core engineering discipline within a fast‑scaling global tech environment. Based in Kenya, you will work closely with product engineering, customer‑facing teams, or internal operations to create clear, usable content for developers, users, and internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Create, maintain, and continuously improve high‑quality technical documentation for software products, internal systems, or business operations.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and other stakeholders to ensure documentation reflects system functionality and user needs.
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear, structured content for diverse audiences.
• Contribute to documentation standards, style guides, and best‑practice frameworks across teams.
• Engage with users, open‑source communities, and internal teams to gather feedback and improve relevance.
• Support and encourage documentation contributions from engineers and cross‑functional members.
• Apply structured documentation methodologies such as Diátaxis.

Required profile

• Strong experience in technical writing, software documentation, or engineering‑adjacent roles.
• Background in software development or familiarity with engineering tools and workflows.
• Excellent written communication with a focus on clarity, precision, and consistency.
• Analytical and structured thinking with the ability to explain complex systems.
