Technical Operations & Workshop Lead

About the role

The Technical Operations & Workshop Lead will oversee the workshop department of a fast‑growing industrial equipment supplier, managing field service technicians, mechanics, welders, plumbers and admin staff. The role ensures efficient delivery of assembly, installation, maintenance, repair and fabrication activities while meeting quality, safety and customer expectations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily operations of technical and workshop teams, allocating resources and monitoring progress.
• Plan, schedule and monitor preventive maintenance, installations, commissioning and field service activities.
• Ensure tools, spare parts and equipment are available and correctly allocated for each job.
• Maintain compliance with quality standards, HSE policies and safety procedures.
• Drive continuous improvement, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce rework and warranty claims.
• Collaborate with Technical Director, Sales, Procurement, Finance, logistics and administration teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Production Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of engineering experience with supervisory responsibility, preferably in industrial equipment, water pumping or solar water pumping.
• Proven ability to lead multiple field service and workshop teams and manage resources effectively.

Required skills

• Knowledge of positive displacement, centrifugal, industrial and submersible pumps.
• Experience with electric and geared motors, control panels and VFDs.
• Solar water pumping systems, pump installation, commissioning and troubleshooting.
• Mechanical assemblies, couplings, welding and fabrication.
• Preventive and corrective maintenance, RCA and equipment fault diagnosis.
• Workshop planning, resource management and quality inspection.
• ERP systems (Odoo preferred) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
