Technical Operator - UHT

About the role

The Technical Operator – UHT will oversee daily operations of the UHT production line at the Kisii factory. Reporting to the Technical Supervisor, the role ensures smooth, safe, and efficient milk processing while maintaining quality and compliance standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit daily production reports covering manpower, milk volumes, raw material usage and machine performance.
• Guarantee continuous availability of raw materials and packaging supplies.
• Monitor compliance with Standard Operating Procedures for UHT operators and other production staff.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and implement Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM) schedules with Engineering.
• Adjust and modify machines to improve efficiency and meet varying production demands.
• Raise requisitions for spare parts and maintenance needs promptly.
• Supervise packaging operations and contracted staff to minimise product loss.
• Ensure food‑safety standards, Critical Control Points (CCPs), Operational Prerequisite Programs (OPRPs) and Prerequisite Programs (PRPs) are met.
• Troubleshoot machine issues, monitor performance and uphold manufacturer specifications.
• Maintain housekeeping and health‑and‑safety standards in the production area.

Required profile

• Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering or a related technical field.
• Minimum five years of relevant experience in manufacturing or dairy processing.
• Experience with UHT/Tetra Pak systems is an advantage.
• Strong analytical ability and good organisational skills.
• Ability to manage a team and resolve conflicts.
