Telecommunications Technical Officer – Rocherlea

About the role
Join TasNetworks as a Telecommunications Technical Officer in Rocherlea and help maintain the critical communications network that supports Tasmania's electricity system. This entry‑level position is ideal for candidates with a basic understanding of telecommunications, IT, electronics or networking who are eager to develop their technical skills.
Key responsibilities
- Support maintenance and operation of telecommunications equipment across Northern Tasmania.
- Assist with installing, commissioning and maintaining radio, fibre‑optic and data communication systems.
- Help deliver telecommunications projects and provide technical support to internal and external customers.
- Participate in preventative and corrective maintenance activities to keep the network safe and reliable.
- Maintain remote telecommunications sites and network infrastructure, recording work digitally and keeping asset information up to date.
- Manage network spares and equipment and contribute to a 24/7 on‑call roster as experience grows.
Required profile
- Strong interest in telecommunications, electronics, networking or related technology.
- Basic knowledge of telecommunications, IT or electrical systems gained through study, work or personal interest.
- Excellent problem‑solving ability, attention to detail and a genuine commitment to safety and quality.
- Team‑oriented communication skills and a current (or obtainable) driver’s licence.
- Physical capability to work at heights and climb telecommunications towers.
