Teller - Forex & Remittance

About the role

Career Directions Limited is recruiting on behalf of its client, a leading financial services organization, for four entry-level Teller positions in the Forex & Remittance department in Nairobi. The Teller provides frontline customer service in foreign exchange, money remittance and cash handling, reporting to the Branch Manager. The role covers compliance with regulatory requirements, accurate transaction processing, effective customer support and proper cash management.

Key responsibilities

• Forex: buy and sell currency with customers, collect original National ID or passport, register clients in the Fabit system, enter transactions and issue computer-generated receipts, issue declaration forms for amounts over 1 million KES and raise concerns with the compliance/MLRO about PEP customers.
• Remittance: assist Western Union, MoneyGram and FX customers in sending or receiving money, carry out due diligence through KYC forms covering source and purpose of funds, remitter and recipient relationship, contacts and address, and process M-Pesa transactions with KYC completed.
• Cash handling: balance currency and coins in cash drawers at the end of each shift, calculate daily transactions and complete daily reports.

Required profile

• Minimum O-level education.
• 1-3 years of experience as a teller in a forex bureau, Sacco or mobile banking (M-Pesa).
• Experience in operations, cash handling, banking, remittance, payments or financial-services operations.
• Ability to handle cash and sensitive financial information responsibly.

Required skills

• Strong numerical and reconciliation skills and excellent attention to detail.
• Cash-management skills and knowledge of transaction processing and internal controls.
• Understanding of KYC and AML/CFT requirements.
