Trade Development Representative (TDR)

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Trade Development Representative (TDR) in the Coastal Region of Kenya. The TDR grows sales, finds new business leads and builds strong distribution channels, covering new outlet openings, order collection and wholesale-to-retail relationships. The advertised pay is KShs 25,000-30,000 plus commissions.

Key responsibilities

• New outlet acquisition: map the territory daily, pitch to and onboard new retail and wholesale stores.
• Order generation: follow a structured route plan to visit existing accounts, collect orders and ensure prompt processing and delivery.
• Price compliance: monitor and enforce the recommended retail price across all stores.
• Stock and merchandising: audit in-store inventory, optimise product placement and run FIFO to eliminate expired stock.
• Wholesale-to-retail bridging: manage wholesaler-retailer relationships, prevent stockouts and resolve channel conflicts.
• Stakeholder training: train retailers and agents on product benefits, selling points and merchandising techniques.
• Competitor intelligence: track competitor prices, new products and marketing activations.
• Issue resolution: handle field complaints, delivery delays, invoice discrepancies and product issues within 24 hours.
• Reporting: compile daily sales trackers, weekly route coverage reviews and monthly market trend reports.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor's degree in Sales & Marketing, Marketing, Business Administration, Commerce or a related field.
• At least 2-3 years of experience in FMCG sales, trade development, business development, distribution or a similar commercial role.
• Food, beverage or other FMCG experience is an added advantage.
• A valid driving licence and willingness to do extensive field work are also advantages.
