Trade Finance Manager – Logistics

About the role

Our client, a growing Supply Chain Alliance, is seeking a senior Finance Manager to lead trade finance and financial strategy across Africa. The role reports to the Group CFO & Supply Chain Alliance Management and involves frequent travel across the continent.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic financial advice on profitability, pricing, working capital, risk, and business expansion.
• Oversee trade finance activities, including letters of credit, guarantees, documentary collections, and structured trade finance.
• Manage treasury, cash flow, liquidity, working capital, and funding requirements.
• Monitor and manage FX, commodity, and counter‑party risks and support hedging strategies.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and profitability analysis.
• Oversee accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, intercompany transactions, and financial close.
• Ensure compliance with IFRS, tax, regulatory, and internal control requirements.
• Develop scalable finance processes, systems, reporting, and automation across multiple countries.
• Manage internal and external audits and strengthen governance frameworks.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team while partnering with commercial, logistics, and supply‑chain functions.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• 8–10 years senior finance/accounting experience within the logistics industry.
• Strong knowledge of trade finance, IFRS, treasury, cash management and financial reporting.
• Experience with cross‑border taxation, regulatory environments and financial systems.
• Advanced Excel and strong analytical, strategic, leadership and communication skills.
• Master’s degree/MBA and professional accounting or finance certification are an advantage.
