Trailer Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Trailer Technician to join our Des Moines shop. The role focuses on preventative maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of company tractors and trailers, ensuring safe and reliable operation.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on tractors and trailers using hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine tools.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and ABS issues with the aid of computer‑based diagnostic software and wiring schematics.
• Recondition, replace, or repair parts as needed, including brake systems, wheel bearings, electrical systems, and air systems.
• Set up and operate cutting, welding, and metal‑fabrication equipment to complete trailer repairs.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts used.

Required profile

• Technical school degree or equivalent tractor/trailer repair experience.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a fast‑paced, physically demanding environment.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with hand tools, precision measuring instruments, and machine tools.
• Experience using computer‑based diagnostic software and interpreting wiring schematics.
• Ability to operate cutting, welding, and metal‑fabrication equipment.
• Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and ABS systems.
