Trainee Lawyer

About the role

Bob & Bob Advocates is seeking a motivated trainee lawyer to join its lean, full‑service team. This position is ideal for a current Kenya School of Law student or recent graduate of the Advocate Training Programme who wants hands‑on experience across multiple practice areas.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct legal research and draft clear memoranda for supervising advocates.
• Prepare and review contracts, pleadings, opinions, and other legal documents.
• Support matter coordination, track documents, and monitor progress to ensure timely delivery.
• Attend client meetings, court sessions, hearings, and negotiations, taking accurate notes and maintaining file records.
• Assist in preparing trial bundles, court filings, and litigation support materials.
• Identify compliance and risk issues in contracts, policies, and transactions.
• Produce legal knowledge updates, case summaries, and business development materials.
• Manage case files and correspondence with strict confidentiality.
• Engage professionally with clients and represent the firm positively.

Required profile

• LL.B from a recognised university.
• Current KSL Advocate Training Programme candidate or recent graduate.
• Strong legal research and drafting abilities.
• Commercial awareness and ability to think beyond pure legal principles.
• Excellent written and spoken English; Kiswahili is a plus.
• High integrity and professionalism.
