Transport Supervisor – Fleet Operations

About the role

The Transport Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient and cost‑effective operation of a diverse fleet that includes agricultural tractors, excavators, backhoes, transport trucks and other utility vehicles. The role ensures proper utilization, driver discipline, preventive maintenance and compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Key responsibilities

• Allocate vehicles and equipment according to operational needs.
• Monitor fleet movement, utilisation and productivity.
• Coordinate transport schedules with field, factory, estate and operations departments.
• Conduct daily inspection checks, report breakdowns and coordinate repairs.
• Ensure preventive‑maintenance schedules are followed and minimise downtime.
• Maintain fuel records, mileage reports and identify abnormal usage.
• Control unauthorised use of vehicles and equipment.
• Train drivers and operators on safe machine handling, fuel‑economy practices and traffic‑law compliance.
• Investigate accidents, incidents and operational complaints.
• Prepare daily, weekly and monthly operational reports.

Required profile

• Diploma in Agricultural, Mechanical or Automotive Engineering; a Certificate/Diploma in Fleet Management is an advantage.
• Minimum 3 years of experience supervising fleet/transport in a busy agricultural or commercial setting.
• Valid driving licence with at least 5 years of driving experience.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for record‑keeping.
• Experience with transport management systems and fleet record databases.
