About the role
The Urban‑Rural Linkages Intern will support the Policy and Legislation Section of UN‑Habitat in Nairobi. This role contributes to the development of tools, frameworks and policy guidance that promote inclusive, sustainable urban‑rural connections across Kenya and the wider region.
Key responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of national urban policies, from diagnostic studies to implementation monitoring.
- Support the design and dissemination of regulatory and legislative tools for member states.
- Contribute to metropolitan and city‑region studies, including corridors, clusters and green‑economy initiatives.
- Develop and test tools that strengthen urban‑rural linkages and territorial approaches.
- Participate in knowledge‑management activities, drafting documents, pilot projects and policy dialogues.
Required profile
- Strong interest in sustainable urban development, policy and planning.
- Ability to work in a multicultural, collaborative environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
