UX Designer - Developer Experience

About the role

Canonical is hiring a UX Designer focused on Developer Experience. The role is remote within the EMEA region and involves designing and building tools that let people build, package and maintain their own software, with a focus on open source. It sits within Canonical's design team and supports its horizontal design efforts.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build tools that enable developers to build, package and maintain their own software, with a focus on open source.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineers to shape the future of developer experience.
• Support complex products using design and UX heuristics.
• Evolve and evangelise design systems that drive consistency and efficiency.
• Understand the broad scope of the work and its many interconnected constraints.
• Support one of the working groups that enables Canonical design's horizontal efforts.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in User Experience, Design or STEM, or a compelling story about another chosen path.
• Exceptional academic track record from high school and university.
• Knowledge and passion for user experience, technology and design.
• Commitment to continuous learning, curiosity, flexibility and a scientific approach.
• Result-oriented, with confidence in user research practices and engagement with the latest design research and innovation.
• Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events, up to two weeks long.
